Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of Bedford County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search signifies agreement with all terms below. If you disagree with any condition, you must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a local, Virginia, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit decisions, employment screening, tenant screening, insurance underwriting, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It identifies Bedford County and Virginia criminal-record resources. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. We neither store official criminal records nor retrieve records, perform official checks, or submit filings for a user.

The content points to custodians such as the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, Bedford's criminal court clerks, the Virginia Department of State Police, Civil & Applicant Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Official public-body access is governed in part by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., while Va. Code § 19.2-389 limits dissemination from the Central Criminal Records Exchange.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of use, you must not:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Harass, threaten, or stalk a person with information obtained here
  • Rely on site content for housing, hiring, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information found here or through a linked tool to intimidate, discriminate against, stalk, threaten, or harass anyone. Such conduct may also be criminal. This restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Va. Code § 9.1-912 governs registry dissemination for lawful protection purposes. Registry information does not permit vigilantism, employment blacklisting, housing discrimination, or other misuse.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce credit reports, consumer reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners do not offer services here for evaluating job candidates, rental applicants, creditworthiness, or insurance risk. You agree that neither site data nor a linked tool will be used to:

  • Make an employment decision about another person
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Set an insurance rate or assess creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

For a legally permitted official check, follow the applicable Virginia Department of State Police process or use a screening company that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Although it describes Bedford County record systems, it cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to a particular matter. Seek advice from a Virginia-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are supplied "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • A partner's search result will be accurate or complete
  • Every detail on the website is current, complete, or correct
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • The pages contain no bugs, mistakes, or security weaknesses

Criminal records can change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, expunged, or sealed. Updates may not appear here at once. No statement on this website is an official statement from the sheriff, a court, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to a sheriff, court portal, Virginia agency, legal resource, or outside search service. We do not operate those destinations and are not responsible for their availability, content, prices, or data practices. Read the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Bedford County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, graphics, code, and logos. Without prior written permission, you may not modify, distribute, copy, or create derivative works from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the website, including reliance on material found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions caused by your use of the website or a violation of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of this website must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when the new version is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access to the website may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be changed only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
